Techniques To Downloading iPod Pictures On Your Portable Movie Player

By Gimm Martinez

You can pack your movie iPod system with a lot of movies from sources other than iTunes. There are many sources for new and old movies online that can be downloaded and prepared for iPod viewing. Before you can watch a movie on your iPod screen, the movie file must first be converted into an MPEG 4 which is standard for iPod viewers.

Most popular video conversion software programs available on the internet can handle this for you. These programs convert file formats from WMV, MOV, VOB, MPEG, AVI and other popular files formats used by many movies. Some programs are free of charge while premium programs require payment.

Some people think that once they convert a movie file into MPEG 4 that the file is ready for their iPod system. This is not true. The movies that you are converting must also match the 640 by 480 screen resolution that is used by the iPod viewer. This is the only way to get the best picture quality.

If a movie does not match the iPod movie system, you will still be able to hear and see the movie, but the picture will be distorted resulting in an unpleasant movie experience. iPod does allow for a slight change in resolution but not by much. It is always better to match the exact resolution required by Apple.

If you want to convert home movies and videos, Apple has a program called QuickTime 7 Pro that you can use. This program seamlessly converts home movies and videos into an iPod format for perfect picture viewing. This is a wonderful way to store home movies of friends and family for viewing when you are away.

Once you download QuickTime 7 Pro, install the program on your computer. Next transfer the home video from your digital recoding device onto your hard drive. If you have not done so already, head over to Apple and download QuickTime 7 Pro and download and install the program.

Once the file conversion process is initiated, the computer will do the rest of the work. The program comes along with a progress bar that keeps you abreast of the progress. You will be able to see how the file conversion is coming along.

Once the conversion is complete for your home movie, you will be required to synchronize the movie on your computer with the iPod software before it can be transferred to your iPod. The synchronization process works the same way with home videos as it does with storing songs on your iPod. - 32528
